Overall Theme:-

This game is a continuous escape room with puzzles that get more challenging as you progress through each room. Each room will be modeled around a specific element, for example, Fire, Water, or Air. The puzzles in each room should lead to the player finding a key that will then allow them to open the door to the next room.

Some games I can relate our idea to are: The Legend of Zelda, The Crystal Maze, real-life Escape rooms and We Were Here are just some examples.

Environment Design:-

The game is going to be set in a cabin in the middle of the woods and each room is going to be based on whichever element we have chosen to work with, for example, the water element room may have a body of water in the middle. Each room will have a box layout and all rooms will be connected in a line, one room after another, doors connecting. The rooms will not be equal in size which is why the rooms will be in a line to negate sizing and positioning problems.

Thematically, The game idea is most Similar to Legend of Zelda; Breath of the Wild, regarding the use of elements.

We are going to make some default props for our game that are common in all rooms:

  • A Door

  • A Key

  • Tables

  • Chairs

  • Cardboard Boxes

Interaction Design:-

The player will move around the scene using the keyboard and mouse, to be more specific, the player will use WASD to move and the mouse to rotate and point and click.

There will be different puzzles, like using gravity to get the key, putting down fire to be able to reach a certain area, and much more.

Some of the scripts we will have to do are:

  • A Ray-cast script that gets the mouse position and sees what object is being chosen.

  • A movement script for the player

  • A script that checks if the player has the key, and if the player gets close to the door it opens the door.

Project Planning:-

  • Working on a room each for the game (any assets that will be used for all rooms will be split amongst us e.g. Doors).

if people fall behind, depending on how far we can get them to focus on global assets or we can split up their room and help them finish.

The problems we foresee being a potential problem is communication, any aspects we are new to do such as the 3D Modelling.

This Concept blog was taken from a PowerPoint presentation my group had done to present our idea.
